PRESUMED EXTENSION OF AI FROM TENNESSEE INTO NEIGHBORING ALABAMA

Mar 15, 2017

Intensive surveillance initiated after the diagnosis of high-path H7N9 North American Lineage Avian Influenza in Tennessee, has revealed the presence of influenza virus at three farms in the Northern part of the state, contiguous with Tennessee.

Test results are pending to determine both pathogenicity and strain.

In addition to the index case in Lincoln County, Tennessee involving a high pathogenicity strain, low pathogenicity influenza was diagnosed on a broiler breeder farm unrelated to the index case diagnosed on March 5th

Both the flocks were depleted within 24 hours after the provisional diagnosis was made.
