National Turkey Federation Supplies Traditional Thanksgiving Turkey

Jeff Sveen, Chairman of the National Turkey Federation and also Chairman of the Board of Dakota Provisions presented the 2018 National Thanksgiving Turkey to the White House.

Sveen stated “The season of Thanksgiving is a special time of year for Americans and I am honored to be invited to the White House to present the national Thanksgiving turkey.” He added “The contributions of American farmers to our country both in the past and today, are significant and the National Turkey Federation’s time-honored tradition is a reminder of the hard work of generations of men and women to feed the world.”

The Thanksgiving turkey “Peas” and his alternate “Carrots” were grown by Ruben Waldner on a Hutterite Colony near Huron, SD.

As in previous year, the turkeys were driven to Washington, DC and stayed at the Willard Intercontinental Hotel before the presentation. They will see out their lives at the Gobbler’s Rest on the campus of Virginia Tech in the Poultry Science Department livestock pavilion.
